Washington DC
Foggy Bottom
Nestled along the banks of the Potomac River, Foggy Bottom boasts a rich history and vibrant cultural tapestry. Its evocative name derives from the mist rolling off the river — and perhaps also from the industrial smog that once hung over its streets. Originally a working-class neighborhood, Foggy Bottom evolved into a hub for government and institutions, most notably the George Washington University, which established its main campus there in 1912. Other landmarks include The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, U.S. Department of State, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, and the Watergate. The southern end of D.C.'s premier greenspace, Rock Creek Park, is easily accessible from the neighborhood. Foggy Bottom real estate includes a mix of historic row houses, modern lofts, and luxury condos.
